Literature Text

A wise man once said
A child that lightly draws its breath
What should it know of death?
And readily I agree.

And thus inside I ache
Tto know how it befell
That in this later date
A child should know so much of hell

Berlin
Is the girl I saw
Dancing in the field
Berlin, little girl I know
Six more you'll never yield
And I see in your eyes that you don't
Fully comprehend
Berlin
You have taken life by its cold dead hand

She runs around and plays
Her sparkling eyes, she's so alive
Seeming oblivious
Don't tell her there are only five

Berlin
Is the girl who knits
Above her brother's grave
Berlin, little girl I know
You visit every day
And I see in your eyes that you are
Wiser than I am
Berlin
You have taken love in your tiny hand
Inspired by William Wadsworth's poem titled "We Are Seven".

I'm working on recording the song now - it actually ended up reminding me of something Sufjan Stevens would play. :)
